Audi's A6 wagon with quattro all-wheel drive occupies a market segment where there are few competitors, and none in the U.S. that offer a comparable drivetrain. The next generation A6 Wagon is expected to join the new A6 sedan later in the 1998 model year. Until then, this limited-production Audi wagon remains unchanged; however, the 2WD version is no longer available. Audi's fortunes in the U.S. market have improved recently, thanks at least in part to the company's new marketing plan with lower prices, as well as the almost completely revamped model lineup.
