Of all the success stories DaimlerChrysler has experienced in recent years, one of the biggest was the introduction of the Ram pickup for 1994. While the previous Dodge pickup barely attained one-tenth the annual sales of its rivals, the uniquely styled Ram has been embraced by truck buyers to such an extent that it is now firmly established as one of America's top-ten-selling new vehicles. In 1998 Dodge added the Quad Cab body style, which provided two rear access doors on extended cab models. The 1/2 ton Ram 1500 was redesigned in 2002, and for 2003, the heavy duty Ram pickup move into its new generation with styling that distinguishes it from the light-duty 1/2 ton truck.
